So you’ve spent a small fortune on your stunning new chunky knit merino blanket and your friends have all come round to admire how very stylish your sitting room is.
But how do you care for it and keep it looking like new when all you want to do is snuggle up in the thing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?
I spend every day making these chunky throws and I know how sumptuously soft this stuff is so yes, I get it, you love it but you’re frightened to use it and just what do you do when your bestie drops her latte all over it?
Don’t worry, I got you covered – see what I did there?
Merino wool is one of my favourite fabrics to work with as it is basically magic! It’s hypoallergenic, eco friendly and sustainable. It is also flame retardant, breathable, and reacts to body temperature so you stay warm and cosy in the winter and cool in the summer. In short it is the ultimate luxury for you and your home.
So how do you keep it looking good?
Like all woollen fabrics your blanket may develop small bobbles (or pilling) with use, this is because the fibres rub against each other as you move it around. It’s perfectly normal, and just like your favourite jumper you can gently pick these off and smooth the fibres back down again.
Merino wool has an amazing natural ability to repel dust and grime due to the nature of the fats and proteins in the wool.
However this does not mean it should be used as a picnic rug!
Merino has more elasticity than many woollen fibres and does not generate much static electricity which means your blanket drapes much better than other fibres and can easily be given a gentle shake periodically to enhance it’s texture and to encourage the stitches back into their original shape.
So there you have it, don't forget to share your pinterest worthy pictures, I love to see how you've styled your kingandeye.co.uk decor.
